ABOUT STATE SUPPORT MISSION (SSM)
NITI Aayog has launched a State Support Mission, a central sector scheme that offers technical and financial support to States/UTs with the objective of strengthening their capacity and State Planning Departments to conceive, conceptualize, structure and implement key initiatives that can transform socio-economic landscape of States.
The State components of SSM include setting up of State Institution for Transformation (SIT) wherein a multidisciplinary Programme Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation (PIME) unit consisting of 9 sectoral experts including a team leader will be established to facilitate implementation of SIT.
PIME unit will supplement the Department’s strength by functioning as a think tank of the State Government and bridge the gap of deficiency in research. It will evaluate and assess the existing strategies, methodologies and systems to improve the socio-economic condition of the State, carry out research, prepare sectoral reports on a regular basis and maintain regular updates on progress in State. The Unit will also conduct extensive monitoring and evaluation exercises for better implementation of projects as well as deeper analysis of project proposals to strengthen the Project Monitoring Division.

10 | Job description/ Duties & Responsibilities | - Assessment of existing strategies, methodologies, and systems to improve the socio-economic condition of the State.
- Coordination with development partners and technical agency concerned.
- Coordinate with State/UT officials for preparation of project proposals to be taken up for implementation by the State Government.
- Analyse DPRs/AAPs and Concept Notes of projects/Schemes as per the extant rules and guidelines.
- Analyse development projects based on Output-Outcome framework.
- Monitor ongoing projects and schemes of the Government through site visits and online monitoring dashboard.
- To put in place robust monitoring & evaluation mechanism.
- Evaluation and assessment of existing strategies, methodologies, and systems of Project Implementation.
- Coordination with development partners and technical agency concerned.
- Support in preparation of State projects and Schemes reports on regular basis.
- Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor (Team Leader) as may be necessary in the interest of the Mission.
